There are three basic Principles of Criminal Law which are as follows :
1) First :
Every Person is presumed to be innocent until he is proved guilty,
2) Second :
The burden of Proving the guilty of accused lies heavenly on the prosecution and it must be discharged beyond reasonable doubt; and
3) Third :
The benefit of doubt is accorded to the accused coupled with the privilege of silence.
