The Law has been termed jus in Latin and its German equivalent is recht. According
to Roscoe Pound , The expression “The Law” or Law means the legal System
operating in a country. According To
Geremy Bentham “The Term Law means, neither more nor less than the total
number of Individual laws taken together.”
The term “ the law connotes the whole legal system in its totality.

The term “A Law”
means a particular statute in its isolated form, the Latin equivalent for
which is lex lici i.e a statue.
Every Act of Parliament is called “a law”
